The side effects of alcohol vary from person to person that include short term and long term symptoms. The body can heal from damage occurred from alcohol if the individual stops drinking and other times the damage is irreversible. Alcohol is a drug that can become addicting mentally and physically when abused.

- Liver damage
- Heart disease
- Strokes
- Death
Major side effects of alcohol may cause Cirrhosis of the liver or chronic liver disease. Cirrhosis of the liver is caused by alcohol eating away and scaring the liver. Chronic liver disease is the death phase and your liver is basically shot and this is of course irreversible.
Heart disease is when alcohol increases the level of triglycerides. Triglycerides are made up of high cholesterol and or fatty tissues in the blood stream. Eventually the fatty tissues will progressively slow the rate of blood flow through the arteries and blood stream eventually blocking them which is defined as heart disease.
Strokes have the same symptoms of heart disease. The blood becomes clogged and stops the blood flow to your heart causing a blocked artery resulting in a stroke.
Death Yes one of the major side effects of alcohol is death. Alcohol is a poison to the body. Nobody can get away with pouring vast amounts of poison into their system and not have something major happen to it.
Most people are totally unaware that alcoholism or drinking alcohol on a regular causes liver damage, heart disease, and strokes. I’m an alcoholic in recovery and I didn’t even know this information until I studied this topic. Knowledge is power when it comes to prevention and that is why everyone should know the dirty little secrets of alcohol.
